Get Your Tiki on this Friday, August 7, at Creative Framing & Gallery!
Heather Piazza (pictured below), owner of Creative Framing & Gallery in Oakland loves tiki! So much so that every summer she curates and hosts a tiki art show, featuring work of over 30 artists from all over the world, including Menehune Design Group. What began 8 years ago as a solo show by local artist Woody Miller (also pictured below) has organically grown into a much anticipated annual show that starts selling its art even before opening! Its popularity and success is a testament to Heather’s passion and to the cult following of those who love and live all things tiki.
“Tales of the Tropics” is this summer’s tiki art show, running from June 27th through August 22nd. The next and last reception is this Friday, August 7, 6-9pm. As always, all are welcome! Wear your best tropical mask while social distancing and having FUN!
Heather, who started framing as a teenager when her mom suggested she might be good at it and enjoy it, has now been serving Oakland and the surrounding Bay Area communities for 18 years doing just that. While custom framing is her original passion, over the years she’s also realized she loves curating art shows to support artists and to engage a new audience at her shop. Always the irrepressible entrepreneur and community builder, Heather is part of Oakland Art Murmur and Open for First Friday Art Receptions, Saturday Strolls, offers Art Classes (all currently by appointment due to Covid 19) and has been voted Bay Area A Lists’s #1 BEST Custom Framer 7 years in a row, 2011-2017. Rightly so, she’s proud to be an award winning, full service Custom Frame Shop and Fine Art Gallery. Visit her instagram page, https://www.instagram.com/creativeframingoakland/
